Sustainability assessment & certification systems

There are currently hundreds of sustainability certifications for the built environment like Active House, BREEAM, DGNB, Green Star, HQE, LEED, Living Building Challenge, GREEN ZOOM, Miljöbyggnad, Nordic Swan, WELL, GREEN HOMES and PASSIVE HOUSE, and the number is set to rise as the focus on certifying buildings continues to increase. Supporting the creation of green homes through their certification is an opportunity for developers and investors to differentiate their construction projects through their quality and environmental performance while educating a new type of responsible customer.  Certification benefits, among many others, are the energy efficiency of the project, increasing the demand for a unique, high-quality offer on the market, substantial reduction of maintenance costs, benefits related to health and productivity of end-users, and the possibility to obtain a higher resale price.

The 4 most common certification systems in Eastern Europe which continuously raise their standards, positively influencing the construction industry, and the global real estate market are:

Green Homes Certification System

Romania Green Building Council has developed a low cost but comprehensive Green Homes certification to assess and recognize the top-performing residential projects utilizing sustainable construction principles. The Green Homes certified by Romania Green Building Council program prepares builders and the industry for important 2020 EU regulations for Net Zero Energy Buildings, Construction Waste reduction, use of non-toxic materials, and reduced environmental impact of the production of those materials.  For certifying in the Green Homes rating system you should become an accredited  Green Building Professional.
